RESEARCH PROJECTS

	The ASRIS activities are based towards type 1 diabetes prediction and prevention with the ultimate aim of its possible eradication (primary prevention). The unique setting is the island of Sardinia where type 1 diabetes risk is strikingly high, with Finland's reaching the toppest risks of the world. The main project is named 'Hot & Cold Spots' and is made of the following subprojects:

	Epidemiology of type 1 diabetes (T1D Sardinian Registry, RIDI, IDA, Conscripts, Migrants)
	Environmental factors for T1D
	Prediction studies (Newborns, Schoolchildren, Diabfin, SARDIS)
	Prevention studies (TRIGR)
	Epidemiology of T1D Complications (Eurodiab PCS)
	Other forms of childhood diabetes (MODY)
	Autoimmune diabetes of the adult (LADA, NIRAD)
